I haven't seen the SE yet, so I've no idea what exactly the book is about (I bet it's all in Czech anyway) - I don't even know if the final cover is the one above or the one on the right (couldn't find a bigger pic).

On the PQ: The Criterion (below) looks really strong for a nigh 11 years old DVD, but it simply can't beat the added resolution / clarity of Bonton's Blu-ray based on the 2012 restoration of the film (utilizing mostly the OCN).
     It's interesting to see the differences in colour timing though, because both masters were apparently approved by Miroslav Ondříček, the film's cinematographer (Criterion specifically mentions this in the booklet + their second featurette shows Ondříček actually working on the colour timing; Bonton doesn't provide any clues on the disc itself, but the National Film Archive's press release confirms that he supervised the restoration). It just goes to show that the "director / cinematographer approved"... gimmick is sometimes nothing more than that (but to be fair, in this case, the two masters are still pretty similar overall).
